As for who, or what Little John Crow actually is, well, LJC is actually a young vulture growing up in Bull Bay on the edge of the Blue Mountains in Jamaica.

Living there with his loving parents Sharil and Rusil Crow, Little John spends his days playing with his friends, a motley group that includes a snake, George; Missy, the French pigeon; Chiqueen, a chicken hawk; Hummy, the hummingbird; and the Three Little Birds.

But more than just a simple, one-tone, PBS Kids! so-called adventure, one morning while the group of friends are relaxing by a cool river, they start chatting about life, their parents’ jobs, and what they want to be when they grow up.

As this somewhat heavy conversation continues, deepening with every thought brought forth by the group, Little John Crow realizes he has no idea what his parents do for work!

So, much like all adventure books for the younger generation, LJC and his friends set out to solve this mystery, but what they discover shocks them all!

I will not reveal what his parents turn out to be, but it is safe to say that it is not one of the most loved jobs that an animal can have in their part of the world, nor is it one that sits well with his friends!

So now LJC must either adjust to this news or confront his parents, but suddenly a horrible tragedy befalls him and he quickly finds himself fleeing Bull Bay.

The remainder of the story not only allows the reader to understand LJC’s situation, but support him on his journey to personal redemption, for both himself and his family; and friends, of course.
