'Fragments of the Natural World' Exhibition'
in Royal Oak, MI today!
Ladies and Gentlemen, it is our privilege to introduce to you an aspiring, and therein inspiring new local Photographer, Colin Charles Harris.
Harris' latest show entitled 'Fragments of the Natural World' is currently running from now through December at the Landmark Main Theater in Royal Oak, MI.
My photographs are very personal visualizations of my life quest to seek spirituality and enlightenment. Capturing the inherent energy on this planet, I have preserved images of my soul for all to be immersed in the experience. The natural world never ceases to stimulate and fascinate me. Using composition to create works of light, form and texture enlivens me to find natural subtleties and present them in a uniquely beautiful perspective.
Harris, 41, born in Hong Kong, raised in England and Windsor, Ontario, lived in Mexico before moving to Royal Oak. He learned photography from his father at an early age, and nature has always been his main focus. "The natural world is the greatest inspiration for me. When I'm shooting these natural objects, they become so far removed from what they really are."
And therein lies the rub, for as much as Harris' photography will turn heads with its depth, intensity and warmth, it will also leave any and all admirer's asking, 'What IS it?' And as much as it doesn't matter - and trust me, Harris won't tell you either - he does shed some light on the subject: "All the images are natural objects, and are all lit solely by the sun. The stories the photographs themselves tell are not etched in stone. It's completely up to the viewer and their own inherent perceptions."
Harris' Body of Work is immense, encapsulating many differing avenues of glorification, admiration and praise. He has been the Featured Artist, Editors Choice for Exposure Gallery Magazine, he won the Michigan State Fair Fine Arts Show Jury Award, and amongst others presented a Slide Presentation along with Windy & Carl's Live Musical Performance at the Detroit Institute of Arts.
