DVD Verdict: Directed by Hana Mae Lee and co-created with writer and editor Hal Satin, the film embraces practical fantasy, occult mythology, and gothic aesthetics while drawing energy from a remarkable soundtrack featuring Rozz Williams, Eva O, Super Heroines, and recordings by Aleister Crowley. Its distinctive visual style and underground musical sensibility position it as a modern cult film inspired by classic gothic horror and rock culture.

From the very off, Lord Morke is our ghoulish narrator who walks us through three differingly separate black and white, stylishly noir, yet always hauntingly sculpted and filmed fables all intersecting in a realm beyond the tangible.

The first one is about rituals and retellings a features a Deathrock squatter jailed by a sadistic psychiatrist and the evils of regret. Then a pair of criminal plumbers plunging further towards Hell’s grips and the beer-soaked leather of the Sunset Strip. And, finally, an architect’s ambition built on the shaky bedrock of the Devil’s promise. What begins as a tale ends in a spell cast upon unsuspecting characters and audiences alike.
