Overview: Autumn arrives at last! As birds set out on their long flight to warmer climates, we follow the change of season through the eyes of the Verdies.

When the water rats launch a surprise attack against the Verdies and all creatures around the Lake, two enemy nations, the Grimps and Verdies, have no chance against the rats--unless they make peace and jointly defend their homes and land.

But nothing can stop Willy Whistle from realizing his lifelong dream of becoming a guard. During Willy’s adventures alongside adorable characters, he learns inspiring lessons of loyalty, responsibility, generosity, and tolerance.

DVD Verdict: The green Verdies are tiny humanoids. They ride birds and defend their lake. Willy Whistle is driven to become a guardian of the lake. The animation is like a children’s book. It has its charms, but that can only go so far. The flaw is the voice acting. Maybe they are playing up the Eastern European accent. I had trouble with the words especially without captions.

I also wanted this to be more magical, but that’s obviously just a personal opinion. There also seems - unless I am badly mistaken - to be somewhat of a subtle racial aspect here that I was not familiar with. All that aside though, it would have been nice to hear the words more clearly.

And yet, and with all that said, this is a VERY cute Netflix original animation, Hungarian production with technical quality, creativity, and using a simple and efficient script. Very cute and good for all the family to sit down with.
