Chaos A.D. [Blu-ray]
(Ashley Lynn Caputo, Cayt Feinics, Joel D. Wynkoop, Lisa Marie Kart, et al / Blu-ray / NR / (2016) 2026 / SRS Cinema)

Overview: On Halloween night, an abusive group is kidnapped to a filthy lair by a group of vicious psychopath’s intent on torturing and killing them.

Blu-ray Verdict: From underground horror auteur Chris Woods comes Chaos A.D.--an unflinching descent into depravity and revenge, steeped in the grindhouse tradition of shock, sleaze, and unrestrained violence. Set on Halloween night, this brutal thriller follows an abused housewife with a deadly secret (Ashley Lynn Caputo), a corrupt politician (David A. Jackson), and a pair of siblings (Lisa Marie Kart and Eric Danger Dionne) scarred by years of domestic trauma.

Each is lured or abducted into a grimy, hellish warehouse where a sadistic crew of psychopaths led by the malevolent Bytch (Cayt Feinics) and her bloodthirsty gang unleash an evening of torment, degradation, and grotesque retribution.

Joined by her deranged partner Vixen (Amanda Welch), the cannibalistic Lilith (Paula Tsurara), the monstrous Misery (Saharra Huxly), and the unhinged Uncle Lester (Bob Glazier), Bytch transforms the lair into a chamber of unholy chaos. What follows is an all-out assault on the senses--part revenge fantasy, part exploitation horror, and all blood-soaked insanity.

With its gritty visuals, practical gore effects, and unrelenting atmosphere, Chaos A.D. pushes underground cinema to its breaking point. Woods--known for his work with The Sleaze Box--channels the energy of vintage shockers while crafting something uniquely feral and transgressive.

Having just finished watching this movie, and with the time midnight, the house dark, no streetlights outside working, I have to honestly say that this movie was just as nerve-wracking to watch as I had hoped!

The violence is mixed with a lot of sleaze. Seriously messed up scenes, and very weird fetishes. It comes off as a weird suburban Hills Have Eyes, but with a Saw premise, and a Troma films vibe throughout! The background music is also very enticing and stays in your head all the way to the end. The darkest parts of the film are, I have to say, the cringe inducing moments when something so bad happens to one character playing the protagonists, from the super antagonistic monster of the film, the female serial killers, to the moments where you are wondering why certain murders are happening from the very beginning!

Eventually you put all the pieces to the puzzle together. You will not be left hanging. The plot is coherent and intelligible which means Director/Writer Chris Woods made a well thought out film and got some actors cast that all, for the most part, ended up finding very likable.

Sure, sometimes I felt like laughing in various parts, but in other scenes I wanted to turn away from the screen, so it has a great mix here. It was like a sick twisted nightmare, but I was able to find some great viewing pleasure from it. That sounds pretty sick, but hey, you can now buy it and judge for yourselves!

This definitive Blu-ray release from SRS Cinema includes English subtitles, a behind-the-scenes featurette, interviews with the cast and crew, a photo gallery, deleted scenes, trailers, and a showcase of SRS cult favorites. Raw, relentless, and unapologetically extreme, Chaos A.D. cements Chris Woods’ reputation as one of the underground’s most fearless purveyors of cinematic mayhem.
