Title - 'Blues & Beyond'
Artist - Gary Moore

Well, if you're not in the know about this incredible guitarist / singer songwriter, allow me to bring you up to date. The sadly taken-too-soon Gary Moore was a Northern Irish musician, most widely recognized as a singer, songwriter, and virtuoso rock and blues guitarist.

In a career dating back to the 1960s, Moore played with musicians including Phil Lynott and Brian Downey during his teenage years, leading him to memberships of the Irish bands Skid Row and Thin Lizzy, and British band Colosseum II.

Moore shared the stage with such blues and rock musicians as B.B. King, Albert King, John Mayall, Jack Bruce, Albert Collins, George Harrison, and Greg Lake, as well as having a successful solo career. He guested on a number of albums recorded by high-profile musicians.

However, and with all that said, Moore will always be best known for his evocative solo hits, such as 'Parisienne Walkways' and 'Still Got the Blues' (live versions that both feature in this set). A solo career that comprises over twenty albums.

On the December 8th, 2017, BMG will proudly release Gary Moore’s Blues and Beyond, a remarkable collection of his powerful and emotive blues studio recordings.

Everything I've bought (or received for review) lately has been adding to my expansive Gary Moore collection. This was no disappointment! Something so special in his style and ability to genre hop they way only he can do that.

Sometimes in a single song, he does that! So appealing to true music lovers. Live, he was probably the very best at "fixing" anything he does as he goes. If he misses at all you hardly notice. He fills it in and you think that it belonged there somehow.

Always a stunning live performance whatever age he was and a solid studio recording artist, these songs resonate today as much as they did when I first started hearing them on vinyl.

It is just so easy to see why he appeared with so many artists that may of had more acclaim than he did. Although I don't know why that was. He has always deserved more than he got, especially in the US, but with this chock-full-of-musical goodness double CD (let alone both the gorgeous 4xLP or that stunning Box-Set), we are all brought loving up to date with his genius.

The Blues and Beyond formats:

2 x CD: Bringing together the cream of Gary Moore’s blues studio recordings, this digipack format is the perfect Gary Moore blues collection.

The 4 x LP counterpart format is housed in an awesome double gatefold “AxeWax” vinyl and features a number of Gary Moore’s blues studio recordings, most of which have never appeared on vinyl.

The Box-Set comprises the blues studio recordings on 2 CDs plus a further 2 CDs of newly mixed and mastered live concert recordings, with two previously unheard song versions. This is the first time that this concert has been available, anywhere.

Also included, is the brand new book I Can’t Wait Until Tomorrow, which offers a unique insight into the world of Gary Moore. This full length Gary Moore-authorized biography is new, unreleased and all you need to know about the man behind the guitar.

For the true collector, included are a number of reproductions of ultra-rare memorabilia items including a concert ticket, album launch event invite, VIP wrist band and AAA pass. This box is the ultimate collection of Gary Moore’s blues output and documents the evolution of a legend.
