Title - 'Live In Japan: Expanded Edition'
Artist - Billy Sherwood & Tony Kaye
For those not in the know, the highly renowned Billy Sherwood is a musician, record producer, and engineer. Mostly known for his time as a member of progressive rock band Yes (1997 to 2000), including for their albums Open Your Eyes (1997) and The Ladder (1999), he actually took a break from their front line for a while.
Thus, after acting as mixing engineer for their albums Heaven & Earth (2014) and Like It Is: Yes at the Bristol Hippodrome (and their two subsequent DVDs), he re-joined Yes in 2015, covering for original bassist Chris Squire who was on hiatus from the band due to health issues shortly before his death on June 27th, 2015. Sherwood still remains in Yes, and will be touring with the band throughout 2016.
Live In Japan is the epic new live undertaking from both himself and Tony Kaye, the English keyboardist / songwriter, and the original keyboard player for the progressive rock group Yes (from 1968 to 1971). In fact, the original founder member re-joined the band for the hugely successful 90125 era, which produced the hit 'Owner Of A Lonely Heart'.
This epic 2CD and 1 DVD set, Live in Japan sees the duo performing songs from their careers, including a generous number of Yes hits, of that have no doubt.

Kaye currently plays with CIRCA:, which also features Sherwood, and formerly included Yes drummer Alan White, so they know each other inside out. And that shines through majestically here on Live In Japan, for it's like both guys are finishing off the others musical thoughts. I have to admit that I've been a fan of Sherwood's music for many a decade now. He’s an extremely prolific, multi-talented workaholic musician who is capable of doing just about anything that needs to be done in the process of creating a music album.
Among other things, he is a kick-ass performer and as much as I enjoy his output where he shows his technical abilities (his solo album, At the Speed of Life, was yet another brilliant record), the live shows I've caught him on are where he truly lets loose; truly comes alive. Here on this 2CD + 1 DVD set, he does just that, and alongside Kaye, well, if you are a YES fan, or a Prog rock fan, in any way shape or form, you HAVE to have this superb set in your collection today!
