Overview: The Behemoth tells the story of a young vacationing couple who become the target of a blood thirsty religious cult who targets them as their next human sacrifice to an ancient entity.

DVD Verdict: The Behemoth is a bold supernatural cult horror that lures audiences in with eerie restraint before detonating into an unhinged, blood-soaked cosmic nightmare. What begins as a quiet holiday in a snow-covered mountain village quickly descends into terror when a young couple crosses paths with a secretive religious sect.

As disappearances mount and the atmosphere grows increasingly oppressive, the couple realizes they are no longer observers-but targets-caught at the center of a ritual that will unleash something far worse than death!

Opening on a much beloved H.P. Lovecraft quote - and one, in all honesty, that had this reviewer believing that what was to follow was going to be a much better than average low budget B-movie - that it did not, but it at least nicely foretold what was to play out.

Thus, we do indeed get a more than decent horror film, but one that takes the trope as far as it can go and all whilst never really sticking the final landing, in my humble opinion.

Again though, as it does bear repeating, The Behemoth isn’t a bad movie, just one where the main storyline quickly spirals into a series of predictable tropes, including loyal devotees to the cinematic cause being the first ones to die. And just when you think it can’t get any more shlocky, we are gifted the knowledge that the newborn God can actually be killed ... with a power saw!

That all aside, sure the script may be a little left of center, not really all that grounded in parts, the dialogue stilted, yet at times spot on perfect, but come on now, that very last scene before the credits roll is a really masterful moment where the lone survivor sits alone ... and the evil demon God appears right behind them! Pure bloody cinema at its finest!
