4K UHD Blu-ray Verdict: Warner Bros. Home Entertainment is expanding their 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray catalog offerings this month with the release of the breathtakingly gory They Will Kill You in the expansive 4K Ultra HD video format this June 30th, 2026.
For my money, this They Will Kill You 4K sharpness takes a fairly large step forward from others in their 4K Ultra HD catalog and even comes with HDR (High Dynamic Range) for the complete 4K Ultra HD experience, of course.
So, what we have is They Will Kill You presented to us as a two-disc with Blu-ray version and a sheet for a Digital HD Copy. Other stand out points you should know are: Codec: HEVC / H.265, Resolution: Native 4K (2160p) and HDR: HDR10.
Featuring Dolby Vision and HDR10 for brighter, deeper, and way more lifelike colors, as with most all 4K UHDs, everything that we watch features these qualities - but somehow, this film gloriously shines within them all.
Noticeably crisp with the overall clarity receiving an obvious boost here on this release, what is more is that it is enjoyably noticeable. For as well as some new nuances to the somewhat drab palette courtesy of Dolby Vision, we also get to witness sudden bright pops of color, which makes the eyes draw in, for sure.
As for the audio, well, all we get is: English: Dolby Atmos.
Overall, this is a very strong 4K HDR Blu-ray presentation, and, for the most part, the audio track remains fairly similar to its DTS-HD counterpart; with much of the action occupying the surrounds with outstanding directionality and placement where effects flawlessly pan between the sides and rears.
As for the film itself, well, They Will Kill You is an action comedy horror movie produced by Andy Muschietti and follows an ex-convict who answers an ad to be a housekeeper at a mysterious New York City high-rise hotel, not fully realizing she is entering a community that has seen a number of disappearances over the years - although she too has an ulterior motive.
The film takes the premise of Ready or Not and turns it into Kill Bill Meets Evil Dead II and is just so f**king entertaining from start to finish! The movie is just one insane action sequences followed by another insane action sequence and the martial arts fight choreography is phenomenal also.
Then, you get to the cast and they are having the time of their lives with their characters and I enjoyed all of them. Zazie Beetz was awesome as Asia Reaves, who has more in common with Uma Thurman’s Beatrix than with Samara Weaving’s Grace, trust me, and she is such a badass main character. The main threat of the satanic cult in the high-rise hotel are collectively possessed and thus entertaining as all f**k to watch; with the standouts being Patricia Arquette, Tom Felton, Heather Graham and James Remar.
You also have Myha’la and Angus Sampson in supporting roles and they work well for the story and I enjoyed their characters too. The movie has an excellent blend of action, horror and comedy to where none of them try to cannibalize each other. You do get the plot loud and proud, the story unfolding nicely as we go, the characters all doing what they were hired to do, and thus everything about this film is spot on perfect.
I also found the pacing to be perfect as the story flows from action sequence to character scenes seamlessly without any problems. There is a lot of carnage candy on display with a great mix of practical and digital effects. And so, in conclusion, this is one of those movies where I cannot find fault in anything that I saw and have to add that it was an absolute blast from beginning to end and it is one of the best 4K UHD home entertainment experiences of my life ... so far!
