Divide & Conquer (Special Edition) [BR]
(Michael Herz, Mercedes The Myse, Vada Callisto, Irie Divine, Mark Torgl, et al / Blu-ray / R / (2021) 2023 / Troma Films)

Overview: Meanwhile in Tromaville, three women warriors find themselves on the run and kicking in the teeth of every misogynist that dares to cross their path! Lloyd Kaufman calls it, A Feminist movie for the 21st century!

This estrogen fueled grindhouse tribute is Written, Directed & Starring Mercedes The Muse (HONOR KILLING, ROSE & VIKTOR: NO MERCY).

Blu-ray Verdict: I think, those that have ever seen a Troma film, can all agree that anything goes with these breed of films. In as much as they are glamorous C-Movies, overacted, over filmed, over promoted, and under-budgeted nonsense that, for the most part, satiates all of its viewing public, one deliciously spewed line of so-called dialogue at a time.

Furthermore, there is never anyreal needfor dicussion after a viewing, save for Who was that girl and Wow, she really went for it, but what there is a need for, and what there has always been a need for it, irrelevant violence, bad taste, naked breasts and big asses on display, and body fluids aplenty, for Troma films are, and seemingly always will be, the upmost royalty of the C-Movie cinema.

Now, as for this new film, 2021’s Divide & Conquer, well, from the off, you get the feeling that this is most definitively the vision of Director, Writer and Star Mercedes the Muse. It is the story of a trio of tough, ass-kicking sisters bonded not by blood but by resilience and survival against the odds.

Lilith (Irie Divine), Athena (Knotty Peach), and Toxie (director Mercedes) are on the road, just trying to flee a life that exploited and used them. But they encounter racist, misogynist pigs and find themselves hunted down by a lethal white supremacist secret society that wants them dead. And to get to the leader behind it, all the three have to return to the New Jersey town they’re yearning to leave behind: Tromaville.

So, I hear you asking, does Divide & Conquer deliver on all the aforementioned content that brings all the Troma-viewing boys (and girls) to the yard? In short, yes, it features most everything that you would expect a Troma film to spew forth, so relax, it’s all good, my friends!

For on show here in Divide & Conquer, Mercedes brings forth all things gross, such as brains that pop, arms that are torn off, and as much piss and ejaculate get spilled as, well, bright red blood! There’s also sex and nudity aplenty, but director Mercedes gives it to us in a very sex-positive, pro-feminist package.

Our main characters are as in control of their situation, as the director is in presenting her story and message (yes, in a Troma film, I know, right!), and it’s a message that anyone who can’t grasp how a female director can sell feminism via a hefty dose of T&A, need step back right now!
