Wild Kratts - Cats and Dogs
(Martin Kratt, Chris Kratt / DVD / NR / 2021 / PBS Kids!)

Overview: While on the African savanna, Martin and Chris observe lots of wild cats and dogs.

Soon, the Wild Kratts kids are calling in from all over to ask about cats and dogs and whether they’re like their own pets.

Zach, who has been secretly listening to all the questions, comes up with a scheme to capture and sell these wild animals.

Can Chris, Martin and the team save the wild cats and dogs?

DVD Verdict: For those not in the know, Chris and Martin Kratt are brothers (in real life!) who explore the wild throughout the world to learn more about animals and share conservation information. They have three friends who travel in the Tortuga HQ with them named Aviva, Koki and Jimmy Z.

The brothers have creature power suits that allow them to experience what it’s like to be the animals they find. The team helps them by creating power suit creature disks for each animal they study. They also bring them supplies and help them out of tricky situations when their adventures get dicey.

In Wild Kratts: Cats and Dogs, which is a special that is part of the Wild Kratts animal adventure series, there is actually a lot of so-called animal kingdom-related suspense, so make sure that your kids know that going in!

OK, sure, none of it is OTT, but you get images of predators stalking their prey (although, luckily, they don’t succeed in killing them), but a lion does overwhelmingly kill a robot!

Oh, and a mother cat gets separated from her hungry meowing kittens before eventually being reunited, but that is just cute through and through (for the most part).

Some humans also get themselves into a tussle or two, such as when the villain of the piece Zach throws the Kratt brothers out of his airplane, but the overall conflict is mostly silly and the Kratts never seem like they are in any genuine strife!

In short, Wild Kratts is a great cartoon adventure show for kids where they can learn about new animals and why conservation is so important to the world, not just them.

Also, we get to learn fun facts, straight from the box cover art work, in this case: Wild dogs and cats both have claws that are made out of what tough substance? The answer is on the back of the DVD case, for those interested!

This is a Widescreen Presentation (1.78:1) enhanced for 16x9 TVs and comes with the aforementioned feature-length movie, along with three (3) other episodes: Spots in the Desert, Adapto the Coyote and Little Howler.
