Profile [Blu-ray + Digital]
(Valene Kane, Morgan Watkins, Christine Adams, Kate Watson, et al / Blu-ray+Digital / R / (2018) 2021 / Universal Pictures Home Entertainment)

Overview: Inspired by true events, PROFILE follows an undercover British journalist on her quest to bait and expose a terrorist recruiter through social media, while trying not to be sucked in by her recruiter and lured into becoming a militant extremist herself.

The unconventional thriller plays out entirely on a computer screen in the screen life format, directed by Timur Bekmambetov.

Blu-ray Verdict: Filmed in 9 days and with some portions of the film used being real documentary footage of true events, PROFILE is based on French journalist Anna Erellefs book In the Skin of a Jihadist, about her investigation into the recruitment of young women by ISIS.

For those unware, PROFILE takes place looking at a laptop screen for the entire time the movie is on! So yes, I thought I was going to be bored out of my mind with this structure much sooner than later, but I was wrong; oh-so wrong.

Indeed, it was well done, but if you have already watched the trailer, well, sadly the trailer is regrettably most of the movie. But that is just the way things are these days, no surprises in cinema released movies when it comes to advertisements for them online.

The story is about a journalist, Amy, posing as another younger girl, Miranda, and how she comes in contact with, Bilel whofs part of a terrorist organization, and how that organization recruits young women from foreign countries - promising them love, then sell them into slavery. What a world!

It shows Amyfs relationship with Bilel and how his words may be working on her, shows her work life and social life spiraling out of control.

So basically, itfs a public service announcement brought to you by Skype, Facebook, and Microsoft on watching who you talk to over the internet.

That all said, it builds up to a pretty scary ending and being that this whole story is based on a true story, well, the ending hits home much more soundly than most Hollywood thrillers, thatfs for sure!

In conclusion, persuasion has a new level of sophistication: Witness two smart operatives persuading each other. PROFILE will add to your understanding of human emotion and the power of the computer, of that you have my word. This a Widescreen Presentation (1.85:1) enhanced for 16x9 TVs.

PROFILE will be available to own for the first time on Digital July 27th, 2021 and on Blu-ray and DVD August 10th, 2021 from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment.
