Overview:Meet John Drake, Secret Agent extraordinaire. In the years before James Bond made his debut, Patrick McGoohan (’The Prisoner,’ Braveheart’) was the coolest spy around, captivating TV audiences on both sides of the Atlantic with his undercover missions for the British Intelligence Agency M9.

DVD Verdict: In Set 4, there are eight complete black and white episodes including ’Sting In The Tail’ where Drake tries to get an assassin by tailing the killer’s mistress; ’The Black Book’ in which Drake goes undercover to discover who is blackmailing a general’s brother; ’Are You Going To Be More Permanent ?’ where Drake has to figure out who is responsible for the disappearance of agents in Vienna; and ’The Mercenaries’ where Drake interferes in a plot to take over an African republic. Other episodes include ’English Lady Takes Lodgers,’ ‘Loyalty Always Pays,’ ‘Parallel Lines Sometimes Meet’ and ’A Very Dangerous Game.’

In Set 5, there are yet another eight complete black and white episodes including ’The Outcast’ where Drake has to figure out if the murdered girlfriend of a missing sailor was selling coded secrets ?; ’To Our Best Friend’ in which Drake heads to Baghdad to clear the name of a spy suspected of leaking secrets; ’The Man On The Beach’ where a murdered contact complicates Drake’s mission in Jamaica; and ’Dangerous Secret’ in which Drake must clean up after the government bungles an attempt to silence a young scientist. Other episodes include ’Judgement Day,’ ‘Say It With Flowers,’ ‘The Man Who Wouldn’t Talk’ and ’Someone Is Liable To Get Hurt’. These are all Standard Versions and come with the Special Features of:
