'The Fog'
(Tom Welling, Maggie Grace, Selma Blair, DeRay Davis, et al / PG-13 / 82 mins / Sony Pictures)

Overview: A century in the past, off the coast of Northern California, a horrible shipwreck, possibly involving foul play, killed a crew of sailors. Now, their ghosts are back for revenge, traveling in the form of an eerie fog. That's bad news for the residents of a small town (Welling, Blair).

Verdict: Oh dear ... now, if the characters were more interesting, the long, long buildup to their night of ghostly reckoning might be suspenseful rather than tedious! For, and unfortunately (as I truly wished to love this remake) the interest heavily lags between the grisly deaths, and, worse, none of the characters generates rooting interest. Add one more to the list of unnecessary horror remakes!
