Mother's Day Gift Guide 2015

Mother's Day is on Sunday, the 10th of May!

Exclusive Magazine's Mother's Day Gift Guide this year includes the incredible documentary "Altina," some PBS wonderment, with such titles as "Downton Abbey Season 5," "Mr. Selfridge Season 3," and "Dancing on the Edge," and even The Healthy Back Bag (from the Healthy Back Bag Company)!

"Altina" (from First Run Features), winner of Best Film and Best Director at the Toronto Jewish Film Festival, is the provocative portrait of a woman ahead of her time whose free spirit defied convention. Altina Schinassi born in 1907 in New York City was the daughter of the tobacco tycoon who developed the machine for pre-rolled cigarettes and Altina was the creator of the Harlequin 'cat's-eye' eyeglasses.

Altina also directed an Oscar nominated documentary about Nazi brutality based on the artwork of her mentor George Grosz, was an active participant in helping Jewish refugees escape the Holocaust, provided shelter to friends who were targeted by Joseph McCarthy, and was one of the early supporters of Martin Luther King, Jr. She was also a noted artist, creating life-sized benches and chairs called 'characters.' She was truly and amazing woman, one that we all aspire to be like.

"Downton Abbey Season 5" - The multi aware-winning series is back! Viewers follow plot threads left dangling from last season, including Lady Mary's courtship contest, Lady Edith's trials as a secret single mom, Robert's battles against modernity, Violet's one-line zingers, and much, much more.

One of the recurring themes of “Downton Abbey” is change, from the wrenching consequences of the Titanic disaster in Season 1 to a notorious automobile accident at the end of Season 3 – plus World War I, women’s rights, and the new morals, inventions, and fashions of the 1920s.

The DVD and Blu-ray are currently available. The DVD SRP is $49.99 and the Blu-ray SRP is $54.99. The run time is approximately 8.75 hours on three discs. The DVD and Blu-ray sets contain all of Season 5, including the finale. The DVD and Blu-ray feature the original U.K. edition of Season 5 as well as more than 40 minutes of bonus video.

"Mr. Selfridge: Season 3" - Jeremy Piven (Entourage) stars as London's retail king, Harry Gordon Selfridge, in Mr. Selfridge, the series hailed as "addicting" by The Wall Street Journal, Season 3 airing Sundays, March 29-May13, 2015 on MASTERPIECE, follows the fascinating rise and fall of this colorful but troubled entrepreneur, and picks up in 1919 just after the end of World War I. Zoe Wanamaker (My Family, Harry Potter films, Agatha Christie: Poirot) joins the series cast to play trouble-making Russian Princess, Marie de Bolotoff.

The Selfridges colorful staff returns, with Amanda Abbington (Sherlock) as Miss Mardle, Tom Goodman-Hill as Mr. Grove, Ron Cook as Mr. Crabb, Aisling Loftus as Agnes Towler, Grégory Fitoussi as Henri Leclair, and Aidan McArdle as Lord Loxley.

“MR SELFRIDGE SEASON 3” will be available on DVD and Blu-ray May 5, 2015. The DVD SRP is $39.99 and the Blu-ray SRP is $44.99. The run time is approximately 450 minutes on 3 discs.

"Dancing on the Edge" - In the early 1930s London, the black jazz group known as the Louis Lester Band is on the rise. Managed by the compassionate yet short-tempered Wesley Holt, the band lands a gig at the Imperial Hotel, thanks to the cunning journalist, Stanley Mitchell. They prove to be a hit, and their star begins to rise. Countless aristocrats-including the royal family-ask the band to play at parties, catching the eye of the ambitious American businessman Walter Masterson and his enthusiastic employee, Julian. But just as the band's success balloons, tragedy strikes, setting off a chain of events that may put an end to it all.

From acclaimed writer and director Stephen Poliakoff (The Lost Prince), this ensemble mystery features an all-star cast led by Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years A Slave) and Matthew Goode (The Good Wife, The Imitation Game), and also stars Jacqueline Bisset (2014 Golden Globe® winner for Best Supporting Actress), Tom Hughes, Angel Coulby, Wunmi Mosaku, and many more!

The program will be available on DVD and Blu-ray May 5, 2015. The DVD SRP is $34.99 and the Blu-ray SRP is $39.99. The run time is approximately 7 hours on 3 discs.

And lastly, why not place all these aforementioned DVDs/Blu rays cozily inside The Healthy Back Bag! Creators of the Healthy Back Bag (HBB) it is a tote that alleviates apparent stress on the back, neck, and shoulders. Indeed, the company has a number of mind and body conscious bags that make the perfect gift for moms (this image above is just one of them, of course). The Healthy Back Bag company recently announced their Spring/Summer collection, which focuses on the themes of "vacation", "stand out", and "movement."
