Bill Laimbeer was one of the most notorious players ever to throw an elbow, thrust a hip, or feign being fouled. Laimbeer was one of the league's finest centers throughout the 1980s and into the early 1990s. In 12 seasons with Detroit, Laimbeer became the Pistons' all-time leader in rebounds and second in games played. Playing the role of head villain, he led the "Bad Boys" of Detroit to back-to-back championships in 1989 and 1990. A four-time All-Star, Laimbeer became the 19th player in league history to amass more than 10,000 points and 10,000 rebounds.
Barb Farris is the 6'3" Forward/Center for the WNBA's Detroit Shock. Having attended High School at St. Martin’s Episcopal School Farris was assigned to Detroit 5/2/00, has spent five seasons in the WNBA, and has 1 year of Playoff experience in 2003 (with Detroit). College Career: First Team All-Conference USA and C-USA All-Tournament Team as a junior (1997). Second Team All-Conference as a senior. Metro Conference Rookie of the Year in 1995. Other Professional Notes: Played in France during 2001-02 WNBA off-season. Played one season with New England of the American Basketball League (1998-1999).
Everyone is welcome to join us for this event, but please know that in order for you to meet and greet these two players that you will have to bring ALL the following items:
Minimum five (5) canned goods (p/person)
Minimum one (1) children’s toy/book (p/person)
For these kind donations each person will get to meet both players on the night - ONE AUTOGRAPH PER PERSONALITY, PLEASE! And, as always, this year we are again aiding the following charities: Detroit Children’s Hospital, Gleaners Community Food Bank, and the Alzheimer’s Association of Michigan.
And in both locations of the Palace Sports Locker Room (Southfield, inside the Star Theatre complex and Auburn Hills, inside Great Lakes Crossing Mall) from the first week in December they will have authentic #40 Bill Laimbeer jersey’s and caps.
Please note that this event is expected to draw a huge crowd so we ask everyone to get there early and be patient. And, to ease the waiting time we shall also provide some live music from the young rising star, Crystal Lynn (www.CrystalLynnMusic.com).
If you would like to VOLUNTEER to aid us on the night that would be greatly appreciated also. Please email me directly about this at: firstname.lastname@example.org
Also, come the week of the event, from all the emails that correctly answered the three Bill Laimbeer questions in our recent Contest, 20 lucky winners will be chosen to join us in our exclusive VIP Room. There, they will get to meet both players one-on-one and enjoy food supplied exclusively by Rio Wraps. (Note: Didn't enter? Wanna know how? Email me back ... quickly!)
Finally, know that the first 300 people in line that day also get a free gift!!
