'Spiderman II: Attack of The Clones'
David Arquette was born September 8, 1971 in Winchester, Virginia. He gained his first roles in "The Outsiders" and "Parenthood" in 1990. His first big break came in 96' when he was cast for the role of Deputy Dwight "Dewey" Riley in the hit movie ”Scream.” After his role in Scream, Arquette took on a number of other roles including the 1-800-CALLATT spokes person, ”Never Been Kissed,” and the two sequels to ”Scream” before marrying ‘Friends’ star Courteney Cox in 99'.
Sitting down with the brightly-clothed star, I first wondered how he had become involved with ‘Eight Legged Freaks’ ? ”I read the script and I saw the short film by Ellory Elkayem. It was called ‘Larger Than Life’ and it was really amazing; I really enjoyed it. Then I knew Dean Devlin and Roland Emmerich were involved, and I knew that computer graphics would be spectacular, so I really wanted to be a part of it.”
Did you ever want to try any wrestling moves on the spiders ? ”I did want to try wrestling moves on the spiders but, you know, a figure four leg-lock doesn't work. It only works on one leg !”
Did you get the opportunity to do much adlibbing ? ”Well actually I adlibbed the title in one part. We were doing ADR after the film was done and I adlibbed the title. I said, "Get back you eight legged freaks." Then the original title didn't work so they used this one !”
There are a lot of major big-budget films out this summer. Do you think ‘Eight Legged Freaks’ will be able to compete at the box office ? ”This is something that's in its own category. Hopefully people will see it and want to be spooked and laugh and have a good time.’
Whatever happened to the Darby Crash bio-pic you were interested in doing ? ”It didn't happen. It's a drag. It fell apart, which was a real drag because I really wanted to do it. There's a new book out about him, too.”
Did you and your wife (Courtney Cox) do anything special this year ? ”We went away to the Caribbean for a little spin in the summer, but in the main we’ve just been relaxing. Obviously you have to read things - as an actor you do. There are other things, too. I've been promoting this movie a bit. Just reading books and having fun.”
