'Slash featuring Myles Kennedy: Living The Dream'
(Slash, Myles Kennedy, and the Conspirator, et al/ Blu-ray + 2CD / NR / 2019 / Eagle Vision)

Overview: 'Slash Featuring Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators - Living the Dream Tour' captures the band’s incendiary performance on their sold-out 2019 tour, in front of a rabid crowd at London’s legendary Hammersmith Apollo.

Blu-ray Verdict: Roaring through a highly charged 2-hour set of tracks from all four Slash solo albums, the musicians tear up England's beloved Hammersmith Apollo with staggering solos, while dropping giant slabs of riffs with casual ease, delivering the essence of rock 'n' roll in this show.

In what was just a very exhausting 2 hours spent in front of my TV watching this intense Blu-ray (let alone what must have been overly physically exhausting for all those men on stage that night, of course), this 'Living The Dream Tour' is chock full of Slash and company at their musical finest.

But, and let's get one thing straight here, for everyone that says Myles Kennedy is nothing more than an Axel Rose wannabe can now, please, take a step back!

Sure he has the same vocal chops as Rose, just maybe not a younger Rose at the height of all the G 'N R madness, but here Kennedy uses it to his advantage to come across more as an everyman's Bruce Dickinson

Bathed under intensively colorful, yet darkly blanketed shades of stage lights, some songs are nearly 10 minutes in length, but that's what we've all come to expect from the guys by now.

Including tracks from all four of Slash's solo albums, the set opens with the massive, full force riffage OF 'Call Of The Wild' and the guitar intensity of 'Halo' and backs them up seamlessly with tracks such as 'Standing In The Rain,' 'Ghost,' 'Back From Cali,' and further on the brilliant 'Driving Rain,' 'By The Sword,' and 'Starlight,' before bringing the set to a close with both 'Avalon' and the powerhaus 'Anastasia.'

It should also be pointed out that on the simply searing live version of 'Shadow Life' as well as 'We Are All Gonna Die' and 'Doctor Alibi' that during these titanic anthems Myles Kennedy switches vocal duties with bassist Todd Kerns.

With the lead vocals, at times, being dark, meaning the guitar solos have Slash reaching for notes all over the fret board, this just adds to the manic, frenetic even, and yet also controlled and masterful musicianship on display here.

Slash Featuring Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators - Living the Dream Tour will be released on DVD+2CD, Blu-ray+2 CD, 3LP Black Vinyl, limited edition 3LP Red Vinyl, digital video and digital audio, on September 20th 2019.

This is a Widescreen Presentation (1.85:1) enhanced for 16x9 TVs and comes with the Special Feature of Live In London: Behind The Scenes Featurette.
