From the hindsight afforded by the passing of 70 years from the events narrated. From a totally independent standpoint and with freedom of thought, The Finest Hours of WWII describes the events in the most detailed and comprehensive way, just as they happened.

From the atrocious moment in which Hitler ordered the invasion of Polish territory to the day in which Emperor Hirohito “had to accept the unacceptable”, all is encompassed in this incredible series.

Next up is Combat Aircrafts which is a compelling documentary series that follows the history of the aerial assault vehicle from the creation of the aero plane to its militarization during World War I and the Russian Revolution.

With remarkable narration and incredible archival footage, including many never-before-seen sequences. This groundbreaking 5-part series is a complete historical overview from 1900 to 1945.

We quickly learn that World War II witnessed tremendous growth in the size of American military aviation, from about 2,500 airplanes to nearly 300,000 by the war’s end.

Indeed, compared to World War 1 (1914-1918), World War II set the standard for aircraft combat by producing evermore powerful bombers, faster fighters and rocket and jet-propelled air frames.

As we also discover, The Flying Fortress embodied the cherished American concept of precision daylight bombardment and was amongst the deadliest of World War II planes.

Finally comes Waves of Freedom which is a rather captivating adventure documentary that recounts a post-war story of U.S. volunteer sailors recruited to break the British naval blockade of Palestine.

It details how upon enlisting, foreign volunteers were used as part of the Zionist attempt to break through the British naval blockade of Palestine in 1945–48.

At the time, Palestine still was under British rule, and the British government continued a pre-war policy that limited Jewish immigration to several hundred persons a month, with the ultimate objective of barring it entirely.

So a rescue operation was mounted by the Palestine Jewish underground, and conducted under clandestine conditions. It was called "illegal immigration."

All told, a fleet of 60 ramshackle ships transported more than 60,000 "illegal immigrants" from European ports between 1946 and 1948.

Among them were 10 American ships, acquired as war surplus from U.S. boneyards and crewed by 250 volunteer sailors and contract officers. The ships carried 30,000 would-be immigrants.
