'Journey to the South Pacific 4K HD' [Blu-ray]
(Cate Blanchett / 4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray + Digital / NR / (2013) 2018 / Mill Creek Entertainment)

Overview: Narrated by Academy Award® winner Cate Blanchett, 'Journey to the South Pacific' will take moviegoers on a breathtaking IMAX® adventure to the lush tropical islands of remote West Papua, where life flourishes above and below the sea.

Blu-ray Verdict: In truth, is there anything that when a voice over from Blanchett comes a gently knockin' one can easily turn away from?

I think not, hence 'Journey to the South Pacific 4K HD' is a rather wondrous IMAX enhanced journey undertaken alongside the silky vocal tones of the aforementioned Ms. Blanchett.

With the infamous IMAX Corporation having previously always stated that they had no plans to release the film on home-video, well, here it is now, ladies and gentleman.

'Journey to the South Pacific 4K HD' has a lot of different things that everyone would love. It has education, geography, comedy, music, fish, culture and many more things everyone would enjoy.

The story begins when a young boy, Jawi, lives on an island in gorgeous Indonesia. What is very unique about the story is that it follows a boat that travels to different islands and takes kids from each on a "floating school" where they dive, play fun games and, of course, learn about fish.

When the young boy goes on this boat, he leaves home for a couple months for a wonderful aquatic adventure, that's for sure.

Indeed, my personal favorite scene is when they talk about the corals singing and they show different marine species making sounds with music-like voice overs; and, the funny thing is, they do it in a chorus-like rhythm. I love it because it's lighthearted and funny.

Unlike most new movies, this film was taped on a real film, not digital. This gives more in-depth colors. And, as mentioned, it's shot on IMAX film which is ten times larger than 35mm which gives better quality because of the larger frame.

In closing, sure, you must like the aquatic life to get a true, deep kick out of this, but the directors ( Stephen Judson, Greg MacGillivray) film it so well that there are times when you feel so immersed in the movie you'll need to come up for air! This is a Widescreen Presentation (1.85:1) enhanced for 16x9 TVs and comes with the Special Features of:
