'Shark Week: 30th Anniversary Edition'
(Blu-ray+DVD / TV-14 / 2018 / LGF)

Overview: Dive in and celebrate 30 years of sharktastic excitement when the 'Shark Week: 30th Anniversary Edition' arrives on Blu-ray™ Combo Pack (plus Digital and DVD) July 3rd from Lionsgate, exclusively at Walmart September 4th.

Blu-ray Verdict: Just in time for America’s birthday, everyone will soon have the chance to enjoy one of the country’s biggest obsessions – The Discovery Channel’s Shark Week!

Here on 'Shark Week: 30th Anniversary Edition,' Shark Week celebrates 30 years with fan-selected favorites ranging from shark science to harrowing survival stories.

Here on this incredible new Blu-ray+DVD combo pack, we witness (close up!) the awe-inspiring AIR JAWS, explore HOW JAWS CHANGED THE WORLD, and dive deep into the details of incredible species like the great white and hammerhead.

The combo pack - which also includes 5 fan-favorite's and 5 vintage episodes - also takes a look back at PREHISTORIC SHARKS, the thrilling DIARY OF A SHARK MAN, and the terrifying BULL SHARK: WORLD'S DEADLIEST SHARK.

When Discovery Channel started Shark Week back in 1988, it was designed to take the craze started 13 years prior by 'Jaws' and use it to dispel movie myths and encourage people to understand sharks.

But in recent years, the channel came under fire from scientists for using junk science to increase ratings. In response, Discovery has steadily moved back to fact-based docs, but some skepticism remains.

That aside, and taking a look at some of these episodes now, just to give you an inside's feel to what to expect (should you not have seen the for yourselves yet, of course, first up to get a mention is the very insightful "Jaws Strikes Back."

This special follows biologist Greg Skomal and his team as they head to the Pacific to tag the largest great whites in the world with a drone cam that allows them to study their hunting patterns. Things take an unexpected turn, however, when one of the sharks attacks the camera.

Another insightful episode is "Alien Sharks of the Deep." Beyond your usual great whites and hammerheads, there's also sharks that have been able to adapt to the extreme conditions of deep sea environments. "Alien Sharks" takes a look at these bizarre-looking creatures, including the filter-feeding Megamouth.

"Mythbusters" is another fun and highly entertaining episode, for when it comes to cool, interesting science, no one brings the goods better than Adam and Jamie. "Mythbusters" cooked up a few shark-related tests for Shark Week during its run, including a test to see what can truly keep people from being attacked by sharks.

"Tiger Beach," with a title referring to a shallow-water area of the Bahamas that is teeming with tiger shark, are known for eating almost anything. This results in some of the most gorgeous underwater cinematography Shark Week has ever put on TV.

But the one that does it for me every time, is "Air Jaws" for this has become one of Shark Week's finest episodes in the series. Using extreme slow motion cameras to show great whites soaring out of the water to feed, yes, sure, it's rather terrifying, but unlike "Wrath of Submarine," it's the kind of terrifying that also evokes respect and awe.

Indeed, this stunning, and tightly packed (content wise) Blu-ray+DVD Combo Pack includes over six hours of classic episodes including many rarities and even an exclusive code that allows fans to access 25 additional episodes! This is a Widescreen Presentation (1.78:1) enhanced for 16x9 TVs.
