'Arming America: The Untold History ...'
(Samuel Colt, Oliver Winchester, Eliphalet Remington, Horace Smith, Daniel Wesson, et al / DVD+Digital / NR / 2018 / Mill Creek Entertainment)

Overview: This is the real story of how America became armed, the story of America's first Silicon Valley, the Connecticut Valley of the mid-19th century. It is the story of the Founding Fathers of America's gun industry: Samuel Colt, Oliver Winchester, Eliphalet Remington, Horace Smith, and Daniel Wesson, as well as a congery of lesser-known American gun innovators.

DVD Verdict: Ok, we need to get one thing straight here for from the DVD cover art alone, one might believe that 'Arming America: The Untold History of US Gun Culture' is a tough-minded analysis of US gun culture.

Whereas, and as you will quickly discover, it's actually nothing short of a guns-through-the-ages documentary, with a little light history of gun innovators sprinkled in for good measure.

That said, if that's exactly what you are looking for, then come on in, as it's a really rather interesting flashback at how guns came to be, why and what has since become of them.

So, for that and for that alone, 'Arming America: The Untold History ...' is a genuinely fascinating piece of American history, most of which I have to freely admit I knew nothing of.

Watching along with this documentary, it becomes clear early on that American ingenuity and genius in firearms innovation in the 19 century led the nation down the path to industrialization and to the American method of manufacture that we know of today.

A story everybody should know, 'Arming America: The Untold History ...' is a documentary that lovingly follows a long, ye always chronological sweep of American firearm history.

However, the flow is interrupted with separate company origin timelines and some statements presented one could find a bit more leading than neutral. No matter, for if you want to learn about North American firearm manufacturer history then this is it. This is a Widescreen Presentation (1.78:1) enhanced for 16x9 TVs.
