'Hazlo Como Hombre'
(Mauricio Ochmann, Aislinn Derbez, et al / DVD / R / 2018 / LGF)

Overview: Mauricio Ochmann and Aislinn Derbez star in this hilarious comedy about a man whose world is turned upside down after his best friend, and future brother-in-law, announces he's gay.

DVD Verdict: Raúl, Eduardo and Santiago have led a happy and masculine life from their childhood, until, one day, Santiago confesses to them that he is gay.

And so, Raúl, the alpha male and more homophobic of the three, tries to convince his friend that this is nothing more than a simple sexual confusion.

That is until, when the situation becomes unsustainable, Eduardo and Raúl leave aside their own prejudices and decide to help Santiago to venture into his own new gay life.

Straight from the off, and before you even proceed to watch this film, you should know that both Aislinn Derbez and Mauricio Ochmann play the roles of brother and sister when, in real life, they are actually married to each other!

Trust me, it makes all the difference knowing that and seeing the performance put on by Mauricio thereafter! He does a stellar job at being the gay man here and as much as his friends may well start off as annoying and one-minded, they too meld into his way of thinking nicely.

Overall, 'Hazlo Como Hombre' (aka 'Do It Like An Hombre') had me laughing out loud at times. A dark comedy is what I would like to term it, chock full of sexual humor throughout. Some of it, being that it's inner core is about a gay man, might be too much for some, but at the end of the day, the movie is cute, funny, dark, and yet enjoyable from start to finish. This is a Widescreen Presentation (1.78:1) enhanced for 16x9 TVs.
