Santana IV - Live at the House of Blues Las Vegas
(Styx / Blu-ray / NR / 2016 / Eagle Vision)

Overview: Filmed during the massively successful 2014 Soundtrack of Summer Tour, 'Live at The Orleans Arena Las Vegas' features Styx performing a career-spanning set list before a highly energized crowd.

DVD Verdict: On March 21st, 2016 the classic Santana lineup of Carlos Santana (guitar), Gregg Rolie (keyboards, lead vocals), Neal Schon (guitar, vocals), Michael Carabello (percussion) and Michael Shrieve (drums) reunited at the House of Blues at Mandalay Bay Resort And Casino in Las Vegas for their first live concert since 1973.

The historic show was filmed and this incredible, truly divine live show is now coming out via Eagle Vision (October 28th) as both a luxurious DVD+2CD set and a Blu-ray+2CD set; along with Digital Formats also, of course.

Simply put, this brand new Santana IV live outing, which also made its television premiere Sunday, June 19th, 2016, is fantastic, from start to finish. Showcasing such well-known Santana hits as “Black Magic Woman,” “Oye Como Va,” “Evil Ways,” and “Soul Sacrifice,” along with selections from their just released Santana IV studio album, Santana (the band) rocked the pants off this much-heralded Las Vegas joint, trust me!

CD 1:
1. "Soul Sacrifice" 2. "Jingo" 3. "Evil Ways" 4. "Everybody's Everything" 5. "Shake It" 6. "Anywhere You Want to Go" 7. "Choo Choo" 8. "All Aboard" 9. "Samba Pa Ti" 10. "Batuka" 11. "No One to Depend On" 12. "Leave Me Alone" 13. "Sueños"

CD 2:
1. "Caminando" 2. "Blues Magic" 3. "Echizo" 4. "Come As You Are" 5. "Yambu" 6. "Black Magic Woman/Gypsy Queen" 7. "Oye Como Va" 8. "Ronald Isley Intro" 9. "Love Makes the World Go 'Round" 10. "Freedom in Your Mind" 11. "Toussaint L'Ouverture"

If you weren't even aware that Santana had released a new album, well, Santana IV is their long-anticipated album recorded at Henderson’s Odds On Studios over a three-year period ending last May. The first single, “Anywhere You Want to Go,” was released in February and topped the Billboard Classic Rock charts the first week of release.

Here on 'Santana IV -Live at the House of Blues Las Vegas', and with Santana's fedora as present as always, and with the Santana IV album art looming behind the band, the special musical bond between these guys over the years is housed, showcased here within the meat of every single song they play. Whether new or old, the songs sound magnificent, solid, structured and, classic! Talking of "classic", at one point, Santana advises the audience, due to all the in-depth, prolonged guitar solos and such, that "If you have any mescaline or LSD, now is a good time to take it.”

This one-off concert is certainly something to see and the cameras loom large, hovering consistently, contentedly on Santana each and every time he swings into guitar mode. An artistic, even physical night to behold, given the length of the set along with the stage walking and long, hard guitar solos, the band is super-tight throughout.

Combining everything the band is best known for re: melding the style of rock and Latino power sway with balanced acoustic guitars, keyboards, and monster deep cuts from their history, 'Santana IV -Live at the House of Blues Las Vegas' on either DVD or Blu-ray is a little slice of visual, and on these 2CDs, aural musical heaven.
