'Power Rangers Dino Charge: Hero' [DVD + Digital]
(Brennan Mejia, Camille Hyde, Yoshi Sudarso, Michael Taber, James Davies, et al / DVD / NR / 2016 / LGF)

Overview: Jump into the action-packed adventures of this global phenomenon when 'Power Rangers Dino Charge: Hero' arrives on DVD (plus Digital), Digital HD, and On Demand November 1 from Lionsgate.

DVD Verdict: I have to fully admit that I've been awaiting this new adventure on DVD for rather a long time! The franchise, in general, is mostly about frenzied kick action, preposterous moments and general nonsense. But 'Power Rangers Dino Charge: Hero' changed all that thanks to polished effects, costumes, fights, acting, and most importantly writing.

The writing takes the cake as it implements a lesson/theme into each episode while simultaneously giving character development with an actual plot of how a small group of teenagers discover a new ally: the Purple Ranger!

In this series, the teen superheroes must join forces to defeat an evil monster in order to save the day. But when the Purple Ranger decides to leave the team, it will take all of the Power Rangers’ skills combined to battle the villainous Sledge – and find a new hero fit for the Purple Energem! Oh, and Power Rangers fans will also have the chance to get into the holiday spirit with a special holiday episode, “Race to Rescue Christmas.”

Personally, my two favorites are the Red Ranger Troy (disciplined, serious, yet caring and knows that everyone has weakness) and the Pink Ranger Emma (one who deeply cares about the world around it and knows that there is always a way for everyone to work together).

All in all this is one that both fans and perhaps non-fans (including reluctant parents!) can enjoy, ranking along the veins of the underrated Lightspeed Rescue. So come one, one and all, and dive into the epic battle as the Rangers fight against a massive alien Armada and discover legendary new special abilities at the same time!

Episodes:
"World Famous! (In New Zealand)"
"Deep Down Under"
"Wishing for a Hero"
"One More Energem"
"Race to Rescue Christmas"

This is a Widescreen Presentation (1.85:1) enhanced for 16x9 TVs.
