'Peppa Pig: Sun, Sea, And Snow'
(DVD / NR / 2016 / eOne)
Overview: Peppa and her family look forward to traveling to the seaside where they can build sandcastles, but when they arrive on the beach. there is snow! Join Peppa, George, Mummy Pig and Daddy Pig in these 12 fun adventures. Good times with family, whatever the season!
DVD Verdict: First released in 2008, 'Peppa Pig' are episodic lessons that are great for kids and simple enough to understand - for one and all. Indeed, they are all episodes that have previously aired on Nick Jr. but are still great to have here on one DVD so kids can watch them anytime they miss Peppa Pig!
The characters wear clothes, live in houses, and drive cars, but still display some characteristics of the animals on which they are based. Peppa and her family snort like pigs during conversations in which they are speaking in English, the other animals make their respective noises when they talk, with some exhibiting other characteristics, such as the Rabbit family's communications of squeaking sounds and their enjoyment of carrots.
The Rabbits are also the sole exception to the rule of human-like habitation, in that they live in a burrow in a hill, although it does have windows and is furnished in the same way as the other houses. The characters also blush when embarrassed and their mouths are used to express other emotions such as sadness, happiness, irritation, bewilderment and confusion. It's all very, very low brow cuteness, trust me!

All these twelve episodes are ready to go, just line them up and your kids will settle down and behave! My 3 year old daughter LOVES Peppa Pig. I was so thrilled to be given this DVD by my Editor to review so that, in a first hand experience kind of manner, I could watch it in the car along with my daughter. To garner her immediate reactions, comments and such. And trust me when I say she LOVED it as much as all the other Peppa Pig collections.
Peppa Pig is so charming, so delightful warm and breezy that it is hard for me to imagine much of anybody at any age not being won over after a couple of episodes. The secret, to me, is that gentle and friendly as they are, they are completely devoid of mawkishness and sugary sentiment. This is a Widescreen Presentation (1.78:1) enhanced for 16x9 TVs.
