'The Best of Big Blue Live'
(DVD / PG-13 / 2016 / PBS)

Overview: In 'The Best of Big Blue Live,' the event showcases marine life along America's West Coast. It documents the extraordinary rejuvenation of the once endangered and now thriving ecosystem of Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary in California. Some of the world's most charismatic marine creatures humpback whales, blue whales, sea lions, dolphins, elephant seals, sea otters, great white sharks, shearwaters, and brown pelicans convene in this once-a-year confluence.

DVD Verdict: Every year, some of nature's most amazing marine creatures gather in Monterey Bay, CA, for a spectacular event. This unique, once endangered ecosystem draws humpback whales, blue whales, sea lions, dolphins, orca, sea otters, great white sharks and more from around the world as they converge to feed in this one-of-a-kind environment.

Watching 'The Best of Big Blue Live' there's absolutely no doubt about the high quality of the documentary. What was shown was incredibly beautiful, BUT too much commentary about things too far away to see sometimes, sadly! Indeed, the narrator often talked about things so far away to be seen I had to simply take his word for it that they were even in the picture! Regardless, the underwater and atop the water photography of otters and whales, in particular, was beautiful. You will also enjoy and marvel at this aquatic majesty, trust me. This is a Widescreen Presentation (1.85:1) enhanced for 16x9 TVs.
