'Slowhand at 70 - Live at The Royal Albert Hall'
(Eric Clapton / Blu ray+2CD / NR / 2015 / Eagle Rock)

Overview: 2015 was a year of landmark events for Eric Clapton. He turned 70 in March and then in May he performed his 200th concert at London's famous Royal Albert Hall fifty years after his first performance there with The Yardbirds.

Blu ray Verdict: Eric Clapton's seven (7) night run at London's famous Royal Albert Hall was acclaimed by the critics and adored by the fans. The set list blended vintage blues tracks and Clapton classics from across his astonishing career. Indeed, Clapton has become synonymous with the Royal Albert Hall - I should know, back in the late 80's I actually saw him myself on one of his ten (10) nights playing there one year - and this concert is the perfect combination of artist and venue creating a truly magical night for Eric Clapton fans everywhere.

Now available on a stunning, crystal clear Blu-ray format, the entire concert experience of Eric Clapton, at 70 years-old, playing as if he were still a youngster, couldn't be any better. Together with the incredible picture quality, and superior Surround Sound, lest we forget, there are two (2) CDs of audio music that encapsulate the night just perfectly also. Featuring the exact same song title line up as the Blu-ray, Slowhand at 70 - Live at The Royal Albert Hall is, quite easily, the most brilliant combination of both audio and visual Eric Clapton that I have ever encountered in the same package!

As for the show itself, well, of course, it features classic songs and fan favorites from throughout Eric Clapton's career, including tracks the British rock musician recorded with bands like Cream, Derek & the Dominos and titles Clapton made famous throughout his extensive career as a solo artist. The audio is top notch, as you would expect with anyone working alongside Clapton in getting such a product out to the masses, with excellent separation in 5.1 surround and a perfectly balanced mix of each instrument. Clapton's playing is excellent with just the perfect mixture of energy, tone and intensity.
