'The Rolling Stones From the Vault: Live in Leeds'
(The Rolling Stones / Blu ray+2CD / NR / 2015 / Eagle Rock)

Overview: Continuing the very successful 'From The Vault' series of classic, previously unreleased Rolling Stones live shows, this release is taken from their performance at Roundhay Park in Leeds, England on July 25th 1982. This show was the last concert on their 1982 European Tour in support of 1981's acclaimed 'Tattoo You' album which would be their last live tour for seven years. About half of the 'Tattoo You' album is included in the set including the hit single 'Start Me Up'.

Blu ray Verdict: Firstly, and aside from the fact this was the last show on their Tattoo You 1982 European Tour, and one that would ultimately be their last live tour for seven (long) years, the concert was also the band's last live performance with band co-founder and pianist Ian Stewart.

As for the show, well, it has to be admitted that the song list on this glorious SD Blu-ray and 2CD collection is almost nearly identical to that of From The Vault: Hampton Coliseum, Live 1981, another Rolling Stones live album released earlier in 2012 (which documents a show from the 1981 U.S. leg of the same tour. however, this recording includes the song "Angie," which does not appear on the Hampton Coliseum recording, but sadly misses two songs (both of which are two of my own personal favorites, of course) which appear on the Hampton album: "Waiting on a Friend" and "Let It Bleed."

The footage here on The Rolling Stones - From the Vault: Live in Leeds 1982 has now been carefully restored and the sound has been newly mixed by Bob Clearmountain for this first official release of the show. It is, without a doubt, crystal clear, and spectacular, that's for sure. And man, spread over 2 CDs of music, with some 22 songs included, this really is well worth the money you will most definitely feel you have to spend on it!

Including such now-mega hits as "Under My Thumb," "Black Limousine", "Let's Spend The Night Together", "Beast Of Burden", "Honky Tonk Women", "Jumpin' Jack Flash", "Angie, Tumbling Dice", "Miss You", "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction", the big hit single off the album, "Start Me Up", "Shattered', "Brown Sugar" and so many more, The Rolling Stones - From the Vault: Live in Leeds 1982 is a MUST-HAVE visual and audio experience for EVERY household that loves; or simply even tolerates The Stones!

For me, as a HUGE Stones fan, it's amazing to look back and notice what's missing, more than what's there. Allow me to explain further. You see, back in the early 80's, when the Stones toured, they were still trying to "exist" on the charts, so when "Start Me Up" hit so big, well things changed for them. Again, what I mean, for this, the last of the so-called "pure" Stones shows, is that there are no back-up singers, no massive, wobbly inflatables, and not even a massive stage for Mick to prowl constantly.

Nope, it was just The Stones with Ian, Chuck, Gene, Bobby, plus Ernie Watts on sax. Keith and Ron sang back-up vocals, which they never did again after this tour! So, whether or not you are a Stones purist, or a casual, yet interested passerby, or simply someone who leans into their sound once in a while, The Rolling Stones - From the Vault: Live in Leeds 1982 is an INCREDIBLE Blu-ray+2CD set to own, please believe me.
