'20 Fairy Tales - Scholastic Storybook Treasures'
(DVD / NR / 2015 / Scholastic + Cinedigm)

Overview: You can collect the entire library of Scholastic Storybook Treasures and read along on screen with your favorite classic children's stories, brought vividly to life on DVD.

DVD Verdict: In '20 Fairy Tales - Scholastic Storybook Treasures', a new single-disc release from Scholastic Storybook Treasures: The Classic Collection, get ready to learn more about our culture's classic fairy tales with these colorful movies faithfully adapted from classic books!

For those unfamiliar with the Scholastic Storybook Treasures collection, in general, each DVD includes an assortment of favorite children's picture books on DVD. The picture books (and their DVD renditions) range from the `70s to the current day and include a wide variety of presentation styles.

There are live-action renditions, fully animated versions, versions where a camera pans over the original illustrations to provide movement and visual interest, and so forth. These collections are always eclectic (and that is GOOD!) and I'm always surprised by the new favorites my children discover.

The full list of stories is: Cinderella, Doctor De Soto, Each Peach Pear Plum, Extra Yarn, Goldilocks and the Three Bears, Hansel and Gretel, Harold’s Fairy Tale, Lon Po Po: A Red Riding Hood Story from China, Princess Furball, Rapunzel, Red Riding Hood, Three Billy Goats Gruff, The Boy Who Cried Wolf, The Elves and the Shoemaker, The Little Match Girl, The Red Shoes, The Three Little Pigs, The True Story of The Three Little Pigs!, The Ugly Duckling, and The Emperor’s New Clothes. This is a Widescreen Presentation (1:78.1) enhanced for 16x9 TVs.
