'The Following - The Third and Final Season'
( Kevin Bacon, Shawn Ashmore, Sam Underwood, Jessica Stroup, James Purefoy, et al / 3-Disc Blu ray + Digital HD / NR / 2015 / Warner Bros.)

Overview: A year has passed since the hit thriller’s season finale found rogue ex-FBI agent Ryan Hardy (Kevin Bacon) finally capturing his eloquently twisted nemesis Joe Carroll (James Purefoy). With Carroll locked up on Death Row and Hardy back with the FBI, new threats emerge that have Hardy, Mike Weston (Shawn Ashmore) and Hardy’s niece Max (Jessica Stroup) on edge and off balance.

Blu ray Verdict: In truth, I LOVE(D) this show and have NO IDEA why they cancelled it (save for supposedly low viewer ratings!) The show was well written and brilliantly acted. I was thrilled to see something on the air that actually promotes thought. Unlike reality TV, this show has twists and turns that always caught the viewer totally by surprise. As a former literature major, I loved reading Edgar Allen Poe. This show definitely brought back an interest in his works. So kudos to the writers for actually being intelligent and my hope is that viewers, all around the world, that were challenged by this great TV show, challenge/petition Warner Bros. bring it back. Or, at the very least, have Amazon or NetFlix take it over.

'The Following' was/is very suspenseful and has lots of surprises, just when you think a scene will be safe or calm your mind is totally blown and something INSANE happens. I recommend this show if you like suspense, crazy sadistic gore and psychological thrillers. If you like Kevin Bacon, then this is a must watch- starting, of course, with season one.

Oh, and for those bandying around b/s about this next subject, here this: Kevin Bacon's 6 year contract was only for Warner Brothers stating he was their guy for that time. If the show cancelled, they no longer had to pay him. It just protects them from him quitting or insisting on more money. This show has been very well, written, directed and acted from the pilot on. Ryan Hardy was a character I could believe and who I made a powerful emotional connection with very early on.

Not only did I not miss any episodes, I have watched the seasons over many times. It is very hard for me to watch this last one, because the story isn't finished. The cliff hanger left it in a very interesting place to continue a mysterious new story line. Did I believe him when he told Lisa, "I can find anyone." I sure did. With his instincts and no FBI to hamper him, Ryan would have succeeded But he never got the chance. Sorry, but this show NEEDS to come back. Truly. it does. This is a Widescreen Presentation (1.77:1) enhanced for 16x9 TVs and comes with the Special Features of:
