'Black Veil Brides - Alive And Burning' [Blu-ray]
(Black Veil Brides / Blu ray / NR / 2015 / Eagle Vision)

Overview: 'Alive and Burning' drops a pin in the band's career as their first ever recorded live performance, filmed in their home town of Los Angeles during the successful Black Mass Tour, in support of their self titled fourth album at the world famous Wiltern Theatre.

Blu ray Verdict: I'll be very honest here, I've been in this entertainment business for 30 years, and as much as I like to think I know (or at least have heard of) most everyone out there playing music on a commercial level, I have to admit that I hadn't the foggiest about Black Veil Brides.

Turns out that they are a band on fire right now and this live concert Blu ray is just the most perfect way to introduce anyone to their orchestrated musical mayhem! Playing to a sold-out, and attention starved crowd, they run through a career spanning, a career defining set list that features classics such as 'Knives and Pens' and 'Fallen Angels', as well as current tour favorites 'Faithless' and the grand finale anthem, 'In The End!'

Filmed in their hometown of Los Angeles, and recorded during their Black Mass Tour, 'Alive and Burning' are one minute Satanically possessed in their bullet train, grumbled lyrics, the next slightly more mid-tempo and, dare I say it, tunefully poppy! Amazingly, this is their first-ever concert release on Blu ray/DVD, but with lead singer Andy Biersack rocking the mic back and forth from his mouth as his ferocious vocals come forth, it obviously won't be their last.

Having now done my homework, the name Alive and Burning started their career and look how far it has taken them! Black Veil Brides - Biersack (lead vocals), Ashley Purdy (bass, backing vocals), Jake Pitts (lead guitar), Jinxx (rhythm guitar, violin) and Christian "CC" Coma (drums) - take to the stage wearing black makeup, body paint, tight black studded clothing, and with four-fifths of the guys harboring long hair, it's obvious that there is some inspirational nod towards the great Mötley Crüe's stage persona of the 80's. And that, my friends, is perfectly alright for a newcomer such as myself and all their devoted legion of fans.
