'Anthrax - Chile On Hell'
(Anthrax / DVD / NR / 2014 / Megaforce Records)
Overview: Anthrax filmed their performance of CHILE ON HELL at the Teatro Caupolican in Santiago, Chile on May 10th, 2013, right at the height of their touring in support of the Worship Music album.
DVD Verdict: 'Chile On Hell' is to be released mid-September and it is incredible, trust me! Whether you are a fan of Anthrax, or a heavy metal fan in general, or a passerby taking an interested peak into this world, 'Chile On Hell' is one of the most balls out live performances you will ever witness!
Having brought us the monster album Worship Music beforehand, Anthrax - Scott Ian, Joey Belladonna, Charlie Benante, Frank Bello and ex-Shadows Fall guitarist Jon Donais (replacing Rob Caggiano after his departure in January 2013) all settled in - this fully rockin' live performance is a true testament to a band on top of their game.
Filmed in Santiago de Chile, South America, drummer Charlie Benante has even been quoted as saying, "Santiago was the perfect place to film the show for this DVD." He continues, "When we'd played there in the past, we'd finish our set, play our encore and go back to the dressing room. But every time, the fans would continue to scream and cheer and clap. I mean, they went on and on, they wouldn't stop. One time Scott and I walked out to the side of the stage just to watch what was going on in the audience, it was intense. Why wouldn't we want to film a DVD in front of an audience like that?"
For the show, Anthrax play an extended set that brings us such known songs from their entire catalog plus fan-favorites such as, ‘I Am the Law,’ ‘Indians,’ ‘Madhouse,’ ‘Caught in a Mosh,’ ‘The Devil You Know’ and ‘I’m Alive’ all ensuring that the fans got exactly what they wanted.
Indeed, the entire set list reads as:
01. 'Among The Living'
02. 'Caught In A Mosh'
03. 'I Am The Law'
04. 'Efilnikufesin (N.F.L.)'
05. 'A Skeleton In The Closet'
06. 'In The End'
07. 'T.N.T.' (AC/DC cover)
08. 'I'm Alive'
11. 'In My World'
12. 'Fight 'Em 'Til You Can't'
Encore: 13. 'I'm The Man' / 'Raining Blood' (Slayer cover)
Encore: 14. 'Madhouse'
Encore: 15. 'Antisocial' (Trust cover)
Oh, and for the record, and all those inquiring minds, the Chile On Hell DVD cover art was designed by Stephen Thompson, who partnered with Benante to “redesign” the artwork from last year’s Anthems EP. This is a Widescreen Presentation (1.85:1) enhanced for 16x9 TVs.
