'Bad Ass 2: Bad Asses' [Blu-ray]
(Danny Trejo, Danny Glover, et al / Blu ray / R / 2014 / 20th Century Fox)

Overview: In this hard-hitting, butt-kicking sequel to the original cult favorite Vietnam vet Frank Vega (Trejo) now runs an East L.A. community center where he trains young boxers to survive in and out of the ring. But when his prize student falls in with the wrong crowd and turns up dead, Frank teams up with his pal Bernie (Glover) to take matters into their own fists and prove that justice never gets old.

Blu ray Verdict: I really enjoyed the first 'Bad Ass' movie and after that I instantly had a thirst for a second helping! I didn't think they are going to make a sequel since it didn't get much attention, but the creators were brave enough to take it for a another run. I respect their guts.

And the new movie started just the way I had hoped it would. Frank was not the useless old man he once was, but he is a respected member of the community doing something with his skills while helping youngsters to earn some respect in the world. Only part I was disappointed was not having the characters Amber and Martin as Frank's lover and stepson.

Loved that they cast Jonathan Lipnicki ('Jerry Maguire') and the addition of Loni Love takes the comedy to a whole other level. Also partnering up with Danny Glover was a good idea too, of course.

Sure it's very unrealistic for the most part, but still funny! Funny characters, good fight scenes, good car chases, average story, average acting, 'Bad Asses 2' is an all over great movie, nonetheless! This is a Widescreen Presentation (1.78:1) enhanced for 16x9 TVs.
