'Gimme Shelter' [Blu-ray]
(Vanessa Hudgens, James Earl Jones, Rosario Dawson, Ann Dowd, Stephanie Szostak, et al / Blu ray / NR / 2014 / Lionsgate Films)

Overview: A teenage girl (Hudgens) flees life with her drug-addicted mother (Dawson) to find the wealthy father she's never known (Fraser). 'Gimme Shelter' tells the extraordinary and courageous tale of one girl's fight against the odds to find redemption and - ultimately - to create a family she can call her own.

Blu ray Verdict: Oh my goodness, 'Gimme Shelter' is a touching and moving film, so inspirational that I think people will want to buy more and more of these Blu ray's to see it and give out to friends and family alike.

Even though a low budget film, Vanessa Hudgens is stunning on her performance as Apple. She proves that she has completely left her amateur puppy Disney HSM acting and moved on to bigger future roles that will certainly give her a lot of career options, maybe an Oscar too. And why not?

In 'Gimme Shelter,' Hudgens, as an actress, portrays all the emotions and characteristics that the Academy of Arts want to see. I won't be surprised if I see Hudgens taking at least a nomination for her stunning, breathtaking performance.

'Gimme Shelter,' in general, is an indie film that captures all the phases of a difficult life on the streets of a city. Maybe a little bit of '8 Mile' or 'Precious' has been used as source material, but nonetheless 'Gimme Shelter' reminds me that outstanding acting abilities and originality of story are still out there today to behold. This is a Widescreen Presentation (1.85:1) enhanced for 16x9 TVs and comes with the Bonus Features of:
