'Gotham City Serials - Batman/Batman And Robin'
(Lewis Wilson, Douglas Croft, et al / 2-DVD / NR / 2014 / Mill Creek Entertainment)

Overview: See how Batman really began! Watch as mild-mannered Bruce Wayne (Lewis Wilson) becomes Batman, the classic superhero who, with Robin (Douglas Croft), protects Gotham City from the evil schemes of Dr. Tito Daka (J. Carrol Naish).

DVD Verdict: In truth, I'm a HUGE "old school Batman" fan so I brought in my brother (all-thing Batman-associated lover!) and we reviewed together this 2-disc DVD from the archives.

I didn't have long to wait until I got hooked myself though as these are some truly fascinating, previously-archived 'Batman' episodes, trust me! But with that said, and as much as these are long overdue for 'Batman' fans everywhere, the cover may well be animated, but these episodes for sure are NOT! Oh, and as I didn't know, so "borrowing" from the actual Mill Creek website, "Between The Wizard trying to destroy them and Bruce Wayne's love interest Vicky Vale (Jane Adams) working to uncover their identities, The Dynamic Duo careen from one nail-biting cliffhanger to the next as they set out to save Gotham and foil The Wizard's plan for world domination."

Which is all wonderfully correct, just put better by them! Anyhoo, all the 15 Chapters are the closest to Bob Kane's original vision of the Batman mythos; according to my brother! Striped out from Detective Comics, Batman (and Robin) had not much more than the Bat Cave. They drove a 1939 Cadillac. With the top up, it was the Bat Mobile. Top down, it was Bruce Wayne's car!! How cool, or not was that back then. It's like the whole "mask on" and who is that vs. "mask off" and it's Clark Kent! These are all Full Screen Presentations (1.33:1) and enhanced for 16x9 TVs.
