'Gravity Falls: Six Strange Tales'
(Jason Ritter, Kristen Schaal, Alex Hirsch, Linda Cardellini, et al / DVD / NR / 2013 / Disney DVD)
Overview: If you meet forest gnomes disguised as zombies, dig up a mysterious old journal filled with secrets and ciphers, or encounter spooky hijinks at the local condemned convenience store, you've just crossed over into.Gravity Falls, where there's always something peculiar going on! Join 12-year-old twins Dipper and Mabel Pines as they explore the oddest spot on the map.
DVD Verdict: I have to admit that I'd never heard of 'Gravity Falls' before it was sent for review to the office. Now, well now I'm a HUGE fan! It is not only a cartoon that features some loveable, worthy characters, but contains some very funny cartoon moments also!
Indeed, if you yourself haven't seen it already I highly recommend you do. Still based around a children's TV watching appeal, it tells the story of twins Dipper and Mabel. They are 12 and spend the summer with Grunkle Stan who is running The Mystery Shack.
Through mysterious secrets, navigating the unknown, true love and a lot of hard work Dipper and Mabel learn a lot about themselves during their adventures. On of the biggest lessons is that they have to rely on each other to help solve the mysteries and get closer to the answers which is a lot like real life.
Lots more go on for the twins, but I wouldn't want to give any more away, of course. Anyway, these first six episodes (in order) are:
1. Tourist Trapped
2. The Legend of the Gobblewonker
3. Headhunters
4. The Hand that Rocks the Mabel
5. The Inconveniencing
6. Dipper vs. Manliness
This is a Widescreen Presentation (1.78:1) enhanced for 16x9 TVs and comes with the Special Faeture of:
