'Revenge: The Complete Second Season'
(Emily VanCamp, Madeleine Stowe, Gabriel Mann, Henry Czerny, Ashley Madekwe, et al / 5-Disc DVD / PG / 2013 / ABC Studios)

Overview: Emily Thorne returns to the Hamptons with a vengeance. Her enemies may be the same, but her mission now takes on a new, suspenseful twist. Feel the power of television's most seductive series, as the action and the passion hit new heights in all 22 episodes of 'Revenge: The Complete Second Season' on DVD.

DVD Verdict: In truth, 'Revenge' is my guilty pleasure. I loved the first season. Thought the second season wasn't quite as good at first, but it seemed to find its legs about half way through. Great performances by all actors. Great writing with suspence and revelation in every episode.

Although, and it has to be said to ensure a fair, balanced review that not everyone is so in love with the show. They say that the story has gone too far already. That too many people are getting hurt, killed, injured. Emily Thorne had so many opportunities to take the Grayson's down or bring major scandal to their family and she keeps letting those pass her by. There was a point where Victoria could have been killed by someone else, she should have allowed it instead of interfering.

And, again, to be fair, they are 100% correct in all of that. But this is a TV drama, a better-than-average soap, if you will so we have to allow all that to go on around us for the sake of the show. Indeed, this show is so soapy you could wash your hands with it. Then your body. Then you could put a little in your hair for a nice shampoo!

That being said, it's entertaining into the bargain as long as you accept and anticipate the cheese factor. Which I do. My favorite character, as kinda mentioned above is Victoria Grayson. An Ice Queen, yes, but she's quite lovely even in her advanced years. As for Emily Thorne, the kill-minded vixen, well, I guess there wouldn't be much of a plot without her. Though I kind of think she should just marry Daniel, who is really a much nicer guy than Brit stud Aiden - who's kind of an arrogant fool in spite of always being told that he's "on the right team."

And so with that all said, Season 2 has its high parts, but not as many as Season 1. Although Season 2 is enjoyable you can tell the writers really lost their focus at vital moments. Basically, Emily will stop at nothing to uncover the secrets of her father's murder, but the web of deceit is larger than she ever imagined. Now, with her mother (Jennifer Jason Leigh) in the picture, even more will be revealed.

And sparks fly when Daniel and Ashley begin a torrid romance, while stunning events change the face of Amanda and Jack's relationship! Oh, and new faces mean more trouble for Emily and Victoria, while a mysterious man from Emily's past adds to her complications!
