'Diary Of A Cannibal'
(Jillian Swanson, Trevor Parsons, et al / DVD / R / (2006) 2007 / LGF)
Overview: Horror meister Ulli Lommel's depraved tale of a modern-day cannibal is inspired by a real-life case of a woman who murdered and consumed her lover - liver and all! - in a strange act of consensual love!
DVD Verdict: Yep, you read that correctly! This is a (supposedly) a film "inspired" by a real-life case of a woman who murdered and consumed her lover, piece by piece, organ by organ! Hmmm, tasty! Anyhoo, enough of that ... as we discover during the movie she does it within the confines (of her brain) that this is her own (very) strange act of consensual love! Horror meister Ulli Lommel's depraved tale of this modern-day cannibal is, to say the least, a bloody affair about how they met on the Internet, fell in "love," drove to a desert, and proceeded to stop (in the dead of night, as you do!) in an abandoned warehouse ... as you do! As if you couldn't figure out what comes next, well, as your tour guide ... once inside they quickly get fresh with each other, she gets somewhat overly fiesty with him, and suddenly he's gone to bits for her!!! Yep, classy film, but if it's anything close to a true retelling it truly is scary to think that this woman did such a thing to another human being! I guess, at its heart, 'Diary Of A Cannibal' is a simple story of girl meets boy, girl eats boy!!
