'Connors' War'
(Anthony Treach Criss, Mia Peeples, Ed Anders, Sage Brocklebank, et al / DVD / R / 2006 / Sony Pictures)

Overview: Hip-Hop Group, Naughty By Nature's Anthony "Treach" Criss and Nia Peeples are on a high-stakes thrill ride against time to stop a deranged man bent on catastrophic destruction.

DVD Verdict: Come on, we all know that when a movie is straight-to-DVD it's usually going to be of the lower class bracket of movie goodness! Indeed, from past experiences I would say that I've ben right 9.5 out of ten times! So of course it surprises me to say this, but "Connors' War" actually wasn't that bad. In fact, it was almost good! "Connors' War" stars Treach, a member from the famous hip-hop group Naughty By Nature, as Connors, a special agent who loses his eyesight during a routine mission. His blindness has lost him his job as an agent and he now lives in seclusion. His old boss arrives unexpected offering the opportunity to Connors' of getting his eyesight back using a new advanced medical procedure. Connors' sight is restored, but he can only see in the dark for about 5 hours. Once the time is up and he is out in any kind of light he experiences headaches. His eyes are in a way similar to Riddick's from the Chronicles of Riddick series. In the dark, lights become more intense and illuminated. One thing that did disappoint me about "Connors' War" was the lack of action. When looking at the cover or even the quote on the back, "Action thrill ride", I got the impression that this would have some car chases, explosions or something exciting like that, but there was none of that to be found. I was really looking forward to some kind of big action finale and instead its all off-camera. Had there been at least some kind of intense action, I think this could have been a theatre movie - I really do! You could do a lot better than watching Connors' War, but you could certainly do a lot worse as well! This is a Widescreen Version Presentation (1.85:1) enhanced for 16x9 TVs and comes with the Special Features of just English Subtitles.
