'The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air - Fourth Season'
(Will Smith, James Avery, et al / 3-Disc DVD / NR / (1990) 2006 / Warner Bros.)

Overview: Combining urban edge with sizzling sitcom style, Will Smith gives a graduate course in comedy in a 4-disc collection that features all 26 fourth-season episodes of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Your homework assignment is to watch 'em all. You'll laugh large!

DVD Verdict: In the 4th season of 'F.P.O.B.A.,' Daphne Maxwell Reid replaces Janet Hubert-Whitten for the role of Vivian. When Daphne Maxwell Reid came into the scene as Vivian, the show started going downhill. It was still a good show for it's last 3 seasons but Daphne Maxwell Reid did not put as much heart, effort and passion into the character of Vivian as Janet Hubert-Whitten did. When Janet Hubert-Whitten played Vivan, Vivian had that "I'm your mother and I can still kick your behind" Attitude. When Daphne Maxwell Reid played Vivian, Vivian became dull. It was also difficult to get used to a new Vivian. If Daphne Maxwell Reid had put more effort into the role, it would have made it easier to get used to having a new actress as Vivian. Janet Hubert-Whitten was and will always be the Best Vivian. That said, fans of NBC sitcoms got into the Fresh Prince Of Bel Air by the time its fourth season began in September 1993. Cheers, by then, got cancelled after 11 seasons but the fans got a new hit sitcom, the 11-season Emmy-winning Frasier (Cheers' spin-off). Many of those fans also loved Mad About You. Will Smith is still scoring with the beautiful young women in Bel Air. He also continued to do so for the next two seasons. These are Full Screen presentations (1.33:1), has all the 26 second season episodes on 3 discs.
