'Awesome, I Shot That'
(The Beastie Boys / DVD / R / 2006 / THINKFilm)

Overview: A live performance shot by audience members at a 2004 Beastie Boys concert at Madison Square Garden.

DVD Verdict: Obviously I have just watched this once again on DVD to review it here and now, but I did also get a chance to see it in a theatre. With it being one of the greatest concert movies ever filmed, and including all of the great mentioned bonus features, this is a must buy!!! Don't want to give away any spoilers here so it's hard to talk about it. Let me just say the editing alone is worth the price of this baby. Directed by one "Nathanial Hörnblowér" and shot by 50 fans, 'Awesome' is the Beastie Boys live and direct. (FYI - Please be aware that the full title includes a four-letter word in its six-letter-plus-apostrophe incarnation!) Whether or not you are a fan of the band like myself or not, it will get you moving in your seat and keep you entertained from beginning to end, and also make a Beastie Boys fan out of you. Almost as essential as their Criterion Collection Video Anthology, Awesome may be the world's most professional home movie. This is a Widescreen Presentation (1.85:1) enhanced for 16x9 TVs and comes with the Special Features of:

Full-length Alternate Angle of Multi-Cam Grids - Watch the film from the perspective of many cameras at once
A Cappella Vocal Tracks - Listen to the complete concert with the sound from MCA, Adrock and Mike D's mic's only
Special "Hidden Detours" Feature - Watch the film with the option of taking detours throughout the concert with some of the camera operators Band Commentary
Oh yeah, and the movie trailer with the cool Hollywood voice-over Short Film "A Day in the Life Of Nathanial Hörnblowér," starring comedian David Cross (Arrested Development)
