'Lois & Clark - The New Adventures of Superman 2'
(Dean Cain, Teri Hatcher, et al / 5-Disc DVD / NR / (1993) 2005 / Warner Bros.)

Overview: In 'Lois & Clark's first season, Clark Kent (Dean Cain) and Lois Lane (Teri Hatcher) joined the ranks of Sam and Diane and David and Maddie as TV's sparkiest couples whose devoted fans couldn't wait to see get together. Season 2 takes the star-crossed duo - and the series - to "the next step"; a long-awaited first kiss (the episode "Lucky Leon"), and declarations of love, culminating in a season-ending marriage proposal ("And the Answer Is...").

DVD Verdict: The under-rated but very much loved 1990s TV show, 'LOIS AND CLARK - THE NEW ADVENTURES OF SUPERMAN's second season has now luckily been released on DVD. It was a show that took a different spin on the original story and successfully so. The show had its flaws, but it managed to have some great guest stars and a powerful and sizzling chemistry between the two main stars, Teri Hatcher and Dean Cain. TV in any respect is a tough medium, where the pace is fast. It's bound to have flaws. Dean Cain is often criticized for his performance of clark/superman (where Teri Hatcher deservedly got a lot of praise, for her perfect portrayal of Lois Lane), which really is too bad, because he is a fair actor and he played Clark the way he was suppose to. Clark is suppose to be the all American guy, where in the Christopher Reeves superman movies, he was a bit of the geek. Yes Clark do get his moments to be clumsy on Lois & Clark, but they really took a different spin on the superman/Clark character. Which the current show Smallville certainly have been inspired by. They made Clark a real character. Clark is the MAN and superman is the HERO. Dean Cain good writing ability, shows in the season two episode SEASON GREEDINGS, which just so happens to be my favourite episode of the show. He should write more. Thankfully Dean Cain has done a commentary for this episode. Imagine my delight! One should not underestimate Dean's acting, he did make Clark someone you could root for and he worked hard on that show. If you look at some of his work, you can see he's a good actor. In a lot ways we can thank the success of 'DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES' for the releases of the 'LOIS AND CLARK' DVDs to finally being released. Being a fan of Teri, it was sad to see that she was not given the recognition that she deserves. Her acting skills really showed on 'LOIS AND CLARK.' So it was wonderful thing to see that she got such a great comeback and was finally awarded for her work. Season 2 was a strong season and, as you may have already guessed, was my favorite! This is a Full Screen format (1.33:1) and comes with the Special Features of:
2 New Featurettes: 'Lois & Clark: Secrets of Season 2' and 'Marketing Metropolis: The Fans of Lois & Clark';
Commentary on 'Season's Greedings' by Dean Cain;
Subtitles in English, French, & Spanish (Episodes Only).
