'Multiple Sarcasms'
(Timothy Hutton, Mira Sorvino, Dana Delany, Mario Van Peebles, Stockard Channing, et al / DVD / NR / 2010 / Anchor Bay Entertainment)

Overview: Gabriel Richmond has it all - a great career, a devoted best friend and a loving wife and daughter - then why is he so miserable? Witty, probing and emotionally honest, MULTIPLE SARCASMS is an average guy's search for what's missing from his "perfect" life.

DVD Verdict: For most of this film, whiny, self-absorbed architect Gabriel holes up in his bathroom with a tape recorder, pouring out discontents for his manuscript, when not pining for his BFF (Mira Sorvino). So, does this sound like a movie that will brighten your, perhaps?!

No, I thought not, and yet the old midlife-crisis plot here may well have had many wrings wrung out of it over the years, but somewhere within 'Multiple Sarcasams' — also the name of the Feifferesque play he'll write — does have pockets of light.

Sure it comtains more than its fair share of self-absorption moments, but Hutton is great buried within such roles. And yes, ok, he's lying to his wife Annie (Dana Delany) and himself about his heart's true desire: to write this play about his unraveling life and his fractured relationships, but it's still a comedy at heart - honestly. This is a Widescreen Presentation (1.77:1) enhanced for 16x9 TVs and comes with the Special Features of:
