'Charlton Heston Presents the Bible'
(Charlton Heston, et al / 4-Disc DVD / NR / 2011 / Warner Home Video)

Overview: 'Charlton Heston Presents The Bible' consists of four films featured on single DVDs: Genesis, The Story of Moses, Jesus of Nazareth and The Passion, all vividly narrated by the late Charlton Heston (Ben-Hur, The Ten Commandments), and each with a 28-minute behind-the-scenes featurette.

DVD Verdict: OK, taking it from the top, and telling it like it is (through mine eyes, of course) Charlton Heston is to be commended for his fabulous job in Jesus of Nazareth. He brings the story of Jesus' life on earth to life as he shows us the places where Jesus lived and taught, while interweaving the appropriate Biblical narratives. Charlton Heston's dramatic readings give this DVD set a truly emotional impact.

'Charlton Heston presents The Bible' is a powerful, soul-stirring epic! Heston reads from the stories of Genesis, Exodus, and the Four Gospels with great theatricality, telling them as they may have been told decades before they were written down. While his performances may be a little over the top, they fit this form of production perfectly.

Together with a mesmerizing orchestral soundtrack by Leonard Rosenman, powerful images, and visits to the places where these events may have actually happened, 'Charlton Heston presents The Bible' belongs in everyone's collection of Biblical films and documentaries!

Indeed, I had almost forgotten how good the story of Genesis was also! How could something this good slip my mind? He starts with Adam and Eve and goes all the way to Abraham. The story is told in the Holy Land utlizing beautiful paintings by the masters portraying the story of Genesis. If interested in the Old Testament, this is the place to start.

This combines his brilliant acting with the magnificent scenery of the Holy Land and it gives us beautiful music and works of art from great masters of the past as well. What more can one want from entertainment: Inspiration, uplifting and enlightenment - if you want more than that go to the Bible and read the real book of Genesis or the real Passion of Jesus.

This is a must-have collection. Charlton Heston was one of greatest actors of our generation, of that there can be no argument. Thus, buying this complete set and watching them over a period of nights is a must-do scenario too! This is a Full Screen Presentation (1.33:1) enhanced for 16x9 TVs.
