Janet Jackson
(The Palace, Auburn Hills, MI - 07/30/01)

Janet Jackson: Icon, beauty, diva, entertainer extraordinaire. The entire show moved as fluidly and as flawlessly as she did. It flowed through new to old, taking you willingly through numerous costume changes from the masks of ancient Greece to the bright lights of Tokyo, to the vibrant colors of a child's dream. From a vision of white during the opening number, to a "glammed-up" Teletubbie, to a leather-clad Dominatrix Queen seducing a lucky, unsuspecting male member of the audience right there on stage ! All amazing, beautifully created, perfectly displayed and all skin tight showing off her perfectly chiseled physique. The lighting drew you in and set the mood, enhanced the ever-changing images playing on the video screens behind her. She was non-stop energy thoughout the entire show and at one point became overwhelmed at the audience's response to her presence ! Her almost child-like shyness carried through the venue and made her fans scream even more, wanting to get to "know" her and she accomplished that by really giving her all back to them all. When all is said and done, she has definitely earned a place as the reigning queen of the new divas. All hail, Ms. Jackson !
