Title - 'Prisoners: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack'
Artist - Jóhann Jóhannsson

In all honesty, I rather enjoy listening to movie scores that have a dark, heavy, somber sound. Some of these soundtracks, for example the one for 'The Woman In Black' (by Marco Beltrami), really set the tone and mood for the entire film.

And so, as it turns out this particular soundtrack for the movie 'Prisoners' is born of this very same type of musical refrain. And then some, luckily! All accentuated by the strings (cellos and violas) which characterize Jóhann Jóhannsson's music throughout.

The film and it's screenplay are so finely tuned, and fortunately the music by Jóhannsson is also crafted with such precision. The score is never overbearing - it keeps its distance, slowly building the suspense in the background. When the music does come up in a more dramatic fashion, it makes it all the more thrilling.
