Title - 'Quid Pro Quo' (Eagle Rock)
Artist - Status Quo
Status Quo, one of the most long-lasting UK rock bands of all time, have sold 118 million records worldwide since their first single, 'Pictures Of Matchstick Men' in 1968.
Since then, they’ve enjoyed 63 more British hit singles, 22 of which have reached the Top 10. And now Eagle Rock Entertainment has released the band’s 30th album, Quid Pro Quo here in America.
The first release since Eagle Records released 2007’s In Search Of The Fourth Chord, Quid Pro Quo contains 14 brand new tracks plus their 2010 pro-armed forces version of 'In The Army Now.'
The thundering guitars of 'Two Way Traffic' starts us off with 'Any Way You Like It' flashing us back to the good ol' classic Quo days. The uber catchy 'Better Than That' bounces along next with filler 'Can't See For Looking' followed by the harder-edged 'Dust To Gold.'
The pounding 'Frozen Hero' is another great track, before the 2010 version of 'In The Army Now' is brought forth - a track that I don't see why its inclusion was neccessary, in truth. 'It's All About You' fills in time before the best track on the new album (to my mind), the true Quo feel of 'Leave A Little Light On.'
The heavy rocker of 'Let's Rock' pulsates the speakers next, before the driving dual guitar work intro of 'Movin' On.' 'My Old Ways' and the wonderful 'Reality Cheque' roll out before the fairground fun of 'Rock 'n' Roll 'n' You.' The album closes with 'The Winner,' and yes, if you buy this CD you will definitely have another Quo winner of an album on your hands!
