Title - 'The Signal' (Varese Sarabande)
Artist - Nima Fakhara

From the musical creator of both ‘Gatchaman’ and ’Exists’ comes a brand new collection of entwined tracks for the brand new film soundtrack to ‘The Signal.’ Nima Fakhara is a Los Angeles-based film composer who has worked with directors such as Golden Globe-winner Hany Abu-Assad, and the father of found footage, Eduardo Sanchez.

‘The Signal’ is the story of three college students on a road trip across the Southest who experience a detour: the tracking of a computer genius who has already hacked into MIT and exposed security faults. The trio then find themselves drawn into an eerily isolated area where suddenly everything goes dark.

Listening to the tracks created by Fakhara you instantly get a taste of his upbringing through his musical. Born in Iran, his first experience with music was listening to his uncle play the santour. Influenced by this, he studied the santour himself and soon became well versed in Persian classical music. Thus, his signature sound of a special constructed blend of such musical tastes alongside the sampling of other instruments from various regions of the world have defined his work ever onwards: inclusive of this wonderful soundtrack here today for ‘The Signal.’

Indeed, he has built three instruments that became said signature sounds of this very same project. The Pagoda, the Transmission (very apt given the title of the movie), and the Steel Marimba. Each track features one or all of these instruments, their natural sounds and wave-like textures and sounds capes undeniably rich, thoughtful and unique: much like the entire soundtrack, of course.
