Title - 'Energy: Remastered' (Cherry Pop)
Artist - The Pointer Sisters

Having achieved mainstream success during the 1970s and 1980s, The Pointer Sisters - an American R&B group from Oakland, CA - had a career that spanned over three decades. With its early origins as far back as 1969 when sisters June and Bonnie Pointer began performing in clubs as "Pointers, a Pair," the line-up grew to a trio when sister Anita Pointer joined them.

As things turned out, Bonnie Pointer left the group in 1976 and the remaining trio of Ruth, Anita and June Pointer eventually signed with Richard Perry's fledgling label Planet Records. Their first album on that label and as a trio was 'Energy,' which came out in late 1978. It was quickly certified gold making #13 in the US Pop Charts and #9 in the US R&B Charts.

These days Energy is renowned as one of The Pointer Sisters' absolute classic albums. It has also been a VERY rare CD to find in latter times which makes this new release perfect for all their fans. Indeed, it's the music that still matters. And this is the album that re-launched the Pointer Sisters in 1978-1979 marking their long run with hits into the '80s. It contained their cover of Bruce Springsteen's 'FIRE,' which soon became their first gold single, 'EVERYBODY IS A STAR' (Sly and The Family Stone), and the fun of 'HAPPINESS' (Alan Toussaint).

Amazingly, as most people think this album was created with originals, Energy also features songs originally recorded by Steely Dan ('DIRTY WORK'), Fleetwood Mac ('HYPNOTIZED'), Redbone ('COME AND GET OUR LOVE') and even The Doobie Brothers' 'ECHOES OF LOVE.'

The new bonus tracks include 'LOVE IS LIKE A ROLLING STONE,' a wonderfully rocking once B-side, another B-side in 'NOTHIN’ BUT A HEARTACHE,' and a 12" disco mix of 'HAPPINESS' - which, in truth, only gives us an extended ending of a minute or so longer. For the record, their follow-up rock album Priority (1979) was also a strong record to listen to - even today.

And so as those wonderful people at Cherry Pop have brought forth this newly remastered and super deluxe version of Energy with these bonus tracks (and even brand new interviews), here is the new track listing:

1. LAY IT ON THE LINE
2. DIRTY WORK
3. HYPNOTIZED
